An apprentice learns a craft skill through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. The apprenticeship training period ranges from three to five years based on the requirement of the trade.
The Toledo Northwest Ohio Building Trades are dedicated to providing our apprentices with only the very best, up-to-date training so that they are the most qualified professionals within the building and construction industry. Our Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATC) oversee certified and accredited training programs for extensive apprenticeship training and upgrade training for journeypersons.
Apprentices within the Toledo Northwest Ohio Building Trades are a regular part of the work force and earn escalating wages while learning important skills within their chosen trade. Most apprentices are paid 40-70% of a journeyperson’s wage to start. As they climb the ladder to the final qualifications, their wages are increased at regular intervals. At the end of the teams of apprenticeship, they become a journeyperson and draw full pay for their skill.
Apprenticeship in the building trades offers men and women excellent opportunities for learning to become a highly skilled worker employed in jobs that are both personally satisfying and well paid.
